1. Year Long Plan
a. Trimester 1
i. Initial DRA assessment of students in September
ii. Organize into groups based on their needs, move students based on need
iii. Assess every 6-8 weeks (for entire school year)
iv. Read with students in low group at least every other week
v. Send daily book backs, weekly modified homework
b. Trimester 2
i. Move students depending on progress made
ii. Schedule SSTs with parents
iii. Tutoring before/after school
iv. Share data with partner teacher, compare needs
c. Trimester 3
i. Continue assessments, progress reports
ii. Schedule second SST meeting with parents, provide update
2. Data and monitoring
a. DRA administered every 6-8 weeks for target low group
b. Read with target low group (one on one), at least every other week to monitor progress
c. Keep notes on how students are progressing and what needs to be worked on
d. Keep parents updated through small progress reports
3. Communication
a. Administration/Leadership
i. Present organized data to principal during PLC meetings or other appropriate times, ask for recommendations as well as support in helping students. Data should be in easy to present format. Every trimester (about 4 times a school year)
b. Teachers
i. Meet during PLCs to discuss progress and compare data. Plan lessons and interventions together to better support one another. Work collaboratively: share homework, lessons, and interventions.
ii. Meet once a week after school to keep updated on student progress and to discuss needs
c. Parents
i. For target group, parents will be kept updated on progress through email, notes, and phone calls. Notes will be sent every time a student progresses a reading level. Email/Phone call will be made to update a parent on overall progress, make suggestions on how to support at home, and let parents know what specific things their child needs.
